Logic

Logic Pro has a steep learning curve. Its steepness really relies on your experience as an engineer. I chose the term engineer purposely.

The more experience you have of engineering the less steep the curve but the manual is a friend to everyone, beginer and experienced user alike. Make no mistake though, Logic is a beast compared to Garageband and a lot of work and effort needs to be put in if you are going to reap the rewards. As with everything else in life.

Garageband Vs Logic Pro X

I come from a live keyboard background stubbornly using workstations with built in sequencers to drive modules etc. I have dabbled with garageband on the iPad for fun and a little on Cakewalk in Windows but I have a Macbook Pro and find Garageband on there to be good fun.
My brother raves about Ableton Live and gets some good results with it but its quite expensive for something to dabble in so I am considering getting Logic 9 from the app store.
Would welcome unbiased opinions from users of all three programs. I just want to make some instrumental music for fun, no live use planned and I have a multitimbral Korg Microstation hooked up so I want to integrate that. Also have an Alesis 4 channel USB mixer so hoping I have everything i need.
I also realise I can just use Garageband for what I want and port them over to Logic should i buy it but wifey offered to give me some money towards buying some software so i am just seeing what my options are..
